Jeff,

I don't know how old you are but if you can remember the days before digital and the hard work that went into finding a decent copy (10th gen maxell) of a show, you might appreciate the abundant wealth here.

Granted, I wish we could download the boards and I still think it was a mistake to take them down.

Back in the day if you would have told us we could access every known show for free in one place - we would have known you were dosed!! It would have been too mind blowing to comprehend - maybe it was different growing up without computers? Different mindset.

Jeff Gannon is the non de plume of a certain person that used to come
around here alot.

He had many different names. littledirewolfy not being one of them.

He had a certain wit but he rubbed some folks the wrong way.

If it's THAT Jeff Gannon, he's certainly been rubbing some folks...

I don't think you're really THAT Jeff Gannon, are you ?

Otherwise, I just thought it was a funny name to use.

I don't know who littledirewolfy is, but this is the only username I've used on archive.

The reason I ask is BECAUSE I've traded for a while, I am AM very psyched about the abundance here. But I noticed, for example, that there was an upload of the fifth different SBD of a show, and of course you're going to have your occaisional upload, but FIVE? and we aren't even able to download these....am I missing something here?

read the lineage.the source closer to the original sbd dats, cassette or reels are 99% of the time going to sound better.also new software for transfers have made a huge difference.all these sbd are available to download at torrent sites.the band doesn't as of now don't mind torrent sites as
long as it's not an official release or if it's a different source than the official release.studio albums are a no go of course and videos are iffy.grab yourself a torrent client and download away though older torrents are hard to get sometimes.

I went back and read some of your previous posts and realized that you were not the one I was thinking of.

Furthur proof that I shouldn't post, moments after waking up or after walking
in the house from a hard day at work.

That is a very creative user name though.

It's not just about downloads, although that's good.

It's great to have a place where shows are discussed and various versions can be reviewed. Tape flips, drop outs, missing chunks, poor labeling, noise reduction, tape generation, mic placements, SBD/AUD matrix -- all of these can vary, as well as digitizing equipment and editing skills of the uploader and friends.

Keeping all this straight is one of the wonders of the GD community, and ends up with better quality listening experiences.

And Mr Gannon, I won't ask if you have "relations" with "people" in the White House on any of your frequent visits. That could spell trouble!
